Crime Watch

Two houses burgled

Robbers broke into the house of one Venugopal at Anand Nagar in Domalguda and decamped with gold jewellery and cash, all worth over Rs. 3 lakhs. The police said that Mr.Venugopal along with his family members had gone to Kerala for a holiday on September 4.

On September 8, he received a call on his mobile from the owner of the house stating that his house was burgled. Mr.Venugopal returned to the city on Thursday. The miscreants had broken open the locks, ransacked the almirahs in the bedroom and decamped with 29 tola gold ornaments and Rs 1.90 lakhs in cash. The Chikkadpally police registered a case.

Miscreants gained entry into the house of one P.Vijaya at DD Colony, Amberpet, and took away gold ornaments and household articles worth Rs 60,000. The inmates had gone to Tirupati and returned on Friday when they discovered that their house was burgled. A complaint was lodged with the Amberpet police.

Fatal fall

Two-year-old Saleha Begum, a resident of Yellareddyguda, who accidentally fell into a water tank while playing at her residence on September 7, died on Friday night while undergoing treatment at a private hospital. She was the daughter of a businessman, Muneeruddin. After her family members spotted her in the water tank, they immediately rushed her to the hospital where she died. The Sanjeevareddy Nagar police are investigating.

Succumbs to burns

Thirty-five-year-old D.Sudhakar of Kandikal Gate, who suffered severe burns while trying to stop his wife, Durga, from immolating herself on September 4, died on Friday night while undergoing treatment at Osmania Hospital. It is learnt that his wife set herself ablaze due to stomach pain, when Sudhakar tried to save her. Durga died on September 8. The Chatrinaka police registered a case.

Man robbed

A native of Gulbarga, S.M.Kulkarni, who boarded a bus to go to his native place, from Mahatma Gandhi bus station on Friday, was relieved of his bag containing Rs. 30,000, a passport and other important documents. Mr.Kulkarni arrived at the Begumpet airport from Kolkatta yesterday. He then proceeded to MGBS where he was supposed to take the bus to Gulbarga. He kept his luggage in the bus and got down to make some purchases.
