BANGALORE, SEPT. 11. Three youths barged into a businessman's house, threatened his wife and made away with Rs. 1.20 lakhs in cash and gold ornaments worth Rs. 45,000 on Saturday.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (East), Jayaprakash V. Naik, told The Hindu that the robbery took place at the house of Naseer Ahmed, a dealer in plywood, at 13th `A' Main, Indiranagar, off the BDA commercial complex.

At 11.30 p.m., three men entered Ahmed's home and threatened his wife, Tauseef Begum (40), and the domestic help with a knife. They tied the hands and legs of the two women with a rope and threatened to kill them if they screamed, he said.

Shop burgled

Thieves entered a jewellery shop in Girinagar police station limits on Friday night through a tunnel they had dug and decamped with silver articles worth Rs. 1.50 lakhs.

The police said the thieves had dug the tunnel through the storm water drain that passes in front of Vinayaka Jewellery Stores on 50 feet road in Muneshwara Block. The tunnel opened up to the floor of the shop. The thieves had removed the stone slabs covering the drain before digging the tunnel, the police said. On a complaint by the jeweller, Rajkumar, the Girinagar police have registered a case.
