Farmer commits suicide in Gujarat

AHMEDABAD, SEPT. 12. A farmer in Vadodara district today allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in his field.

An official spokesman said Rangin Parmar of Indrapuri in Vadodara district had taken a loan of Rs. 70,000 from a bank for sowing. But due to excessive rain last month, the seeds were washed away and he could not repay the debt.

Parmar was found hanging from a tree by his neighbour. Investigations are on.

This is the second such case in Vadodara district within a fortnight.
