This Day That Age
Tributes to the many-sided services of Poet Subramania Bharati to the cause of Tamil literature and the freedom struggle were paid by speakers at a meeting held in New Delhi on September 11. Inaugurating the Bharati Day, organised by the National Cultural Organisation, Mr. K.C. Reddy, Production Minister, said Bharati's life was a source of inspiration to the youth to be patriotic, and the many difficulties the poet underwent in the cause of freedom struggle drew admiration from people all over India. Mr. Justice T.L. Venkatarama Aiyar gave a brief account of the life of Bharati and pointed out how he had brought to bear in his songs the rich cultural heritage of the country.
