Lalu on celluloid

By K. Balchand

PATNA, SEPT. 12. Padmashree Lalu Prasad Yadav will hit the silver screen on October 1. The Railway Minister, Lalu Prasad, who lent his name to the film, today released its audio disc.

Mr. Prasad may don the greasepaint for a guest appearance. Actor Sunil Shetty, who plays the role of Lalu, said the title comprised the four characters in the film. It was chosen because Mr. Yadav was the most respected and popular leader in the country. The movie is a family entertainer, he added.

Mr. Prasad said: "I've not sought any royalty for this. The fact that they have bestowed me with honour by using my name richly compensates me." He wished the film a good run and promised to see it, though he was no film buff. His wife and Bihar Chief Minister, Rabri Devi, is also confident that the film will be a hit.

Yes, the Chief Minister has heard about plans to name a film, which has actress Aishwarya Rai in the lead role, after her. "If any movie is being made it has to be welcomed," she said.
