KOCHI, SEPT. 12. A section of the RSP(B) workers owing allegiance to the Labour Minster, Babu Divakaran, today formed a district committee. At the same time, the RSP(B) State general secretary, A. V. Thamarakshan, convened a workers' meeting in the city. The party State secretariat member, K. R. Kurup, termed the formation of the new Ernakulam district committee as an act against the constitution of the party.
No validity
The formation of a "parallel committee" has no organisational validity as the district secretary of the party, who is authorised to convene the district committee, attended the workers' meeting, he said.
He also added that all the organisational issues would be discussed at the State secretariat meeting scheduled for September 14.
K. J. Divakaran, district secretary of the party owing allegiance to Mr. Thamarakshan, termed the formation of a new district committee as unauthorised and unacceptable.
The "parallel meeting" elected C. K. Paily as the new district secretary.
Claims support
They also claimed that 17 district committee members and 12 secretaries of Assembly constituency committees attended the meeting.
They pledged their support for Mr. Babu Divakaran.
