HYDERABAD, SEPT. 12. The Telugu Desam Party has accused the Telangana Rashtra Samiti chief and Union Minister, K. Chandrasekhara Rao, of raking up the separate Telangana slogan only to cling on to power.
Promoting relatives
Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, former Minister, Nagam Janardhan Reddy, said KCR was only bothered about retaining power and promoting his relatives in politics. His statement that the TRS would quit the Central and State Cabinets as a last resort if the Congress failed to honour its commitment of a separate State, smacked of his hunger for power. Dr. Janardhan Reddy said the outbursts of the TRS president and his retraction at the slightest opportunity exposed his true colours. The harsh words against the AICC president, Sonia Gandhi, also falls in the same category. The language used by KCR did not reflect the culture of Telangana.
`Financial emergency'
Meanwhile, former Minister Tammineni Seetaram, said financial emergency was imminent if the Government went ahead with its promise of free power and subsidy on single bulb households. Taking serious exception to the Government decision to go back on its poll promise, Mr. Seetaram said the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, owed an explanation on his rethink on free power supply. Alleging that the Congress Government had taken people for a ride by making false promises, the former Minister said at least now the Government should seriously think about rectifying its mistakes.
