CPI (M) wants decision reversed
By Our Staff Reporter
TIRUPATI,
SEPT. 12.
The CPI (M) floor leader in the Assembly, Nomula Narasimhaiah, has criticised the Government's decision to `retract' on free power supply.
Addressing a media conference here on Sunday, Mr. Narasimhaiah blamed the Government for unilaterally announcing its decision on the issue.
He said the Government should explore various alternatives in striking a balance between fulfilling its poll promise and overburdening the APTransco.
He said the Government should honour its poll promise at any cost.
World Bank loan
Mr. Narasimhaiah said the party was not totally opposed to the World Bank loan, but was against the latter dictating terms to the Government. On extending support to the Congress which was `toeing' the TDP line, he said the party was ready to welcome reforms, but would raise its voice whenever the Government took `anti-people' decisions.
