NELLORE, SEPT. 12. An advanced procedure for a rare disorder has been performed at the Bollineni Superspeciality Hospital, Nellore. According to the Medical Director, M. Yanadi Naidu, Kovi Hanumanthaiah from Obulaypalli village in Chejerla mandal had been found to be suffering from high blood pressure and heart defects. He was referred to the hospital's chief cardiologist, C.S. Srinivasa Raju, who performed an angiogram and found that while the vessels supplying blood to the heart were blocked only by 40 to 50 per cent, those supplying blood to both the kidneys were blocked by 90 per cent. This is a rare and dangerous condition. The blocks in both renal arteries were treated by renal angio plasty and stenting and were dilated to normal size. The procedure was performed successfully within an hour. The cardiologist, K. Ravinder Reddy, the nephrologist, V. Satti Reddy, and the anaesthesiologist, K. Sudarsanamma, participated.
