Sonia to visit Rae Bareli

LUCKNOW, SEPT. 12 .The Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, would visit her Parliamentary constituency of Rae Bareli for three days, beginning September 14.

Confiriming her tour programme, UP Congress sources claimed Ms Gandhi would visit all the five Assembly constituencies which fall under the Rae Bareli Parliamentary seat. ``Instead of holding public meetings, she would make unscheduled stoppages to meet people...much like her son and Amethi MP Rahul had done during his recent tours of his constituency,'' a senior leader said here.

This would be Ms Gandhi's second visit to her constituency after Congres-led UPA came to power at the Centre.

Sources said Ms Gandhi had plans to visit the remote villages and take a first hand stock of the developmental works. ``Instead of relying on local leaders for getting a feedback on people's problems and aspirations, Rahul and Ms Gandhi have decided to tour their constituencies vigorously to get a first-hand account,'' the leader explained. --UNI
