Mob lathi-charged in Bhavnagar

AHMEDABAD,
SEPT. 12
. Police today lathi-charged a mob and burst dozens of teargas shells after a clash between two groups of people in Khedutvas locality in Bhavnagar in the Saurashtra region of Gujarat.
The clash was a sequel to an alleged murder of a youth of one community by members of the rival group last night.
Disturbances began when the local people took out the funeral procession of the youth this morning.
The mourners turned violent and set fire to about a dozen houses, vehicles and roadside cabins, forcing police to lathi-charge and teargas the clashing mobs.
The situation is tense but under control.
