Colourful programme by kids

NEW DELHI SEPT. 12. The Children's Valley School in Preet Vihar celebrated the Valley of Fun `n' Joy on Sunday, dedicating the day to young children. Students between the age group of one to eight years took part in the celebrations.

They presented various innovative programmes like toddlers walking on the ramp with their moms and dads and dressing up like Mother Teresa, Lord Narayana and Lord Krishna. One child was dressed up as a dustbin to give the message of not littering around.

"We want our students to be confident right from the very beginning and such events will help our children not only to gain confidence but also to realise their talents,'' the school chairman, Pradeep Jain said. The school principal, Seema Bhandari, along with other teachers were also present on the occasion.

Talk on inner engineering

NEW DELHI SEPT. 12. Sir Ganga Ram Hospital along with the Delhi branch of the Indian Medical Association hosted a talk on Inner Engineering by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev at Chinmaya Auditorium on Lodhi road this weekend.

"In view of disease and sufferings around us, our body is not at ease. As medical science is increasingly looking at alternative methods of healing to get rid of ailments, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital has been organising such kind of events,'' a press release from the hospital said.

Meet on malnutrition planned

NEW DELHI SEPT. 12. The Department of Women and Child Development of the Ministry of Human Resource Development and the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) will organise a major conference on malnutrition crisis in children in Asia from September 15 to 17 at Vigyan Bhavan here.

The objective of the consultation would be to advocate for inclusion of food and nutrition as a priority in poverty reduction strategies and improving health and nutritional status of the population particularly among women and children, an official release said.

The Union Health Minister, Anbomani Ramadoss, will inaugurate the conference and the State Minister for Women and Child Development, Kanti Singh, will preside over the occasion.

Health Ministers from more than ten countries are expected to participate in the three-day consultation. The WFP Deputy Executive Director, Shiela Sisulu and the Regional Director for the WFP Asia Bureau, Anthony Banbury will also be present on the occasion.

Lok Adalat for students

NEW DELHI SEPT. 12. The Law Faculty of Delhi University organised a Lok Adalat in association with the Delhi State Legal Aid Authority to provide immediate relief to student litigants in the Faculty premises on Saturday.

The objective of the Adalat was to dispose of cases pending for several years in the court and give a practical exposure to students about alternate dispute resolution mechanism. As many as 612 cases dealing with motor accident claims, matrimonial cases, credit cards and cellular phones were enlisted.

The faculty members and law students' volunteers under the guidance of the Dean and Head of the Law Faculty, Nomita Aggarwal, assisted the Lok Adalat.

Focus on pre-angiography counselling

NEW DELHI SEPT. 12. Routine pre-angiography counselling could prevent most of the patient-doctor disputes in any cardiac set up. This was stated by a panel of experts at a public discussion organised in the Capital on Sunday

If all possible outcomes are discussed before patients who are taken for angiography there will be a better trust between patients and doctors and no dispute would arise, the experts said. "In every case of angina if the life and drug treatments fail one should explore the possibility of intervention either angioplasty or bypass.''

The president of the Heart Care Foundation of India, K.K. Aggarwal; senior Cardiac Surgeon of Escorts Heart Institute, Z.S. Meharwal and Professor and the Head of Cardiology department of G.B. Pant Hospital, Sanjay Tyagi were in the panel.
