Karimnagar
By Our Staff Reporter
KARIMNAGAR, SEPT. 12. The Karimnagar town police have warned the organisers of Ganesh pandals against forcibly collecting donations from people for the ensuing Ganesh Chaturti celebrations in the town. Talking to newspersons here on Sunday, the Town Circle Inspector, J. Amarender Reddy, called upon Ganesh pandal organisers to celebrate the festival in its true spirit and not resort to forcible collections from people and business communities. He warned that criminal cases would be registered against those indulging in such collections. Over 250 Ganesh mandaps with idols above the height of three feet were expected to come up in various parts of Karimnagar town, he said, and called upon organisers to register all such mandaps with the respective police stations. Mr. Reddy said the permission for the public address system at the mandaps would be given by the Karimnagar DSP. The public address system should function from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. in the mornings and 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the evenings, he said, adding that only devotional songs must be played at the mandaps. Mr. Reddy also told organisers to secure the necessary permission from APTransco authorities for power supply, adding that they must use proper cabling wires. He said a meeting with all Ganesh pandal organisers would soon be organised and registration numbers issued. The police would also organise a peace committee for the smooth conduct of Ganesh immersion, he said. The SIs, A. Mahesh, R. Prakash and M. Venkata Narsaiah, were present.
