Light rain likely

CHENNAI, SEPT. 12. The sky will be partly cloudy on Monday with the possibility of light rain in some areas during evening or night.

On Sunday, Nungambakkam recorded a maximum temperature of 34.5 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 24.6 degrees Celsius while Meenambakkam recorded 34.6 and 25.5 degrees Celsius respectively. Humidity at Nungambakkam was 78 per cent and at Meenambakkam, 79 per cent.

Power cut

Power supply will be suspended in parts of Anna Salai and Pudupet area on Monday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. for maintenance work.

Blood donation

More than 500 volunteers donated blood at a camp organised by the Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research and Lions Club of Velachery on the campus of the Bharath Institute Deemed University on September 3. The camp was inaugurated by S. Ranganathan, University Vice-Chancellor.

Eye camps

More than 1,000 persons were screened during five eye-screening camps organised by Mahavir International, Chennai Metro, and Gremaltes Hospital this month. Among them 152 received free cataract surgery. The organisations are proposing to complete thousand free cataract surgeries before March 2005. They can be contacted at 24837740.
