COIMBATORE, SEPT.12. Forest personnel last night nabbed Veeran (23) when he and two others attempted to smuggle sandalwood logs from the Forest College at R.S. Puram. While the others escaped, police on night patrol arrested Veeran. On information provided him, 64 kg of sandalwood was recovered. Search was on for 10 others and three jeeps that were used for smuggling sandalwood. On being questioned, Veeran said he was from Konjur near Attapadi. Investigation was on to find the gang's involvement in various instances of sandalwood theft in and around the city.
