VISAKHAPATNAM, SEPT. 12. Tribals at Dummuputtu of Paderu mandal in the agency area of the district on Sunday lynched a father and a son for not turning up at a panchayat called in the village. The duo was identified as Seedara Polanna, 45, and Kondababu, 18. According to the police, Polana owned an orange garden from which children in the village used to steal fruit. He had warned the children several times and reportedly beat up two of them, a couple of times earlier. The village elders called for a panchayat today morning on the issue and summoned Polanna and Kondababu. However, the two did not turn up.
Ignore Panchayat
As they were passing by, villagers questioned them but the two said they had nothing to do with the panchayat. Enraged over the reply, the villagers attacked the two with stones and sticks. Polanna died first after which Kondababu was also chased and killed. Based on a complaint lodged by Polanna's wife, the Paderu police booked a case against 17 persons. The Circle Inspector, Demudu, is investigating.
