Rain likely

Forecast: A spell of rain or thundershower likely. At Waltair, the maximum temperature was 32.6 deg. C and the minimum was 26.4 deg. C respectively on Sunday. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 72 per cent and at 5.30 p.m. was 85 per cent. At Airport, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 36.4 deg. C and 27.6 deg. C respectively. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 68 per cent and at 5.30 p.m. was 60 per cent. The minimum temperature at the Dolphin's Nose was 24.6 deg. C. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 74 per cent.

Lecture

A special lecture on `Hindi and Rajbhasha' was organised at NTPC, Simhadri plant. Professor in Hindi of Andhra University, Sesharatnam, spoke on various aspects of implementing Hindi in official work.

The DGM (Projects), T. Roy, inaugurated the lecture session. S Subramanyam gave a brief account of the activities in Hindi at the plant.

Freshers' Day

The Police Commissioner, B. Prasada Rao, stressed the need for concentration and application for advancement among students. He was speaking at a Freshers' Day meeting of Vidyaardhi Degree College. The College Principal, G. S. N. Sarma, the Andhra University NSS Programme Officer, T. Sobhasri, and the District NSS Programme Officer, V. Narasimha Murthy, also spoke. Cultural programmes followed.

Books distributed

Avatar Meher Baba Prem Ashram Public Charitable Trust on Sunday gave away books to students of its free elementary school on the ashram premises. The former MP, M. V. V. S. Murthy, presided. The Police Commissioner, B. Prasada Rao, who was the chief guest, lauded the ashram activities.
