Temperature

MADURAI, SEPT. 12. The city today registered a maximum temperature of 32.8 degree Celsius and a minimum of 24.2 degree Celsius. The airport recorded a rainfall of .5mm till 8.30 a.m.

Water level

The level in Periyar dam stood at 115.50 feet, with an inflow of 373 cusecs and a discharge of 775 cusecs. The level in Vaigai dam stood at 36.09 feet, with an inflow of 414 cusecs and a discharge of 930 cusecs. The combined Periyar credit stood at 2,409 mcft.

Idayappatti recorded a rainfall of 9.2 mm followed by Periyar dam — 9 mm, Marudhanadhi — 9mm, Vaigai dam — 8.4 mm, Melur — 8 mm, Manjalar — 5 mm, Kuppannampatti — 4 mm, Tekkadi — 3 mm, Chittampatti — 3 mm, Peranai — 2.6 mm, Thaniyamangalam — 2mm, Viraganoor — 2 mm and Sattayar — 1 mm.

Medical camp

A free medical camp was today organised at Anaiyur by the Youth Red Cross of the Fatima College. A team of doctors, led by S. Ramanathan, examined 500 patients and prescribed medicines. The students organised cultural programmes and games for children. The Fatima College Vice-Principal, Lilly, was present.

Elected

The following have been elected office-bearers of the Madurai chapter of the National Institute of Personnel Management, Kolkata, for 2004-05: Lt. Col. (Retd.) R.V.S. Mani (chairman); Prof. R.T. Swamy (vice-chairman); H. Veeraraghavan (honorary secretary); and A. Velmurugaraj, (treasurer). A seven-member executive committee was elected.
