MADURAI, SEPT. 12. The Tamil Nadu Viswakarma Kaivinaignargal Sangam has urged the Government to immediately stop the export of iron, since it is affecting more than 12 lakh workers in the iron and allied industries. The resolution was passed at a meeting of the Sangam. Through another resolution, it demanded appointment of jewel makers as appraisers in jewellery shops, as many had lost their jobs because of the steep rise in the gold price. It also urged the Government to declare `viswakarmas' the Most Backward Community.
