Long overdue

Sir, — This refers to the article, "Manmohan Singh's pitch at the United Nations" (Sept. 13). Considering its size and role in maintaining peace in the subcontinent, India's permanent membership in the Security Council is long overdue. Let power politics not cast its shadow on our prospects for membership.
