Oil reserve dedicated to nation
By Our Special Correspondent
DHOLKA (AHMEDABAD),
SEPT. 13.
The Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi, today dedicated to the nation the crude oil reserve recently discovered by the state-owned Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation and the Gas Authority of India Limited in Ahmedabad Exploration Block near Ingoli village in Dholka taluka. While dedicating the PK-2 oil well and laying the foundation stone for an early production system for production of crude oil on commercial basis, Mr. Modi announced the Government's decision to set up a Special Economic Zone for the petroleum sector on the lines of the SEZs in the ports sector.
Claiming that the new find would give the State a major boost in becoming the `Petro capital of India,' Mr. Modi also sought the Centre's permission for launching petroleum explorations in the State on a bigger scale.
Several ministers in the Modi cabinet and the chairman of the GSPC, C. K. Koshy, were among those present at the dedication ceremony.
