MYSORE, SEPT. 13. The Chief Minister, N. Dharam Singh, will inaugurate the 89th Jayanthi celebrations of Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Swamiji at Suttur Math near here on Wednesday. The executive secretary of the JSS Mahavidyapeetha, B.N. Betkerur, told reporters here today that the celebrations would be held in the presence of the seer of the Suttur Math, Sri Shivarathri Desikendra Swamji, and the dharmadhikari of the Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala, Veerendra Heggade. The Union Minister of State for Planning, M.V. Rajashekaran, would release a souvenir titled "Prasada," on the occasion. The Deputy Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, would preside over the event while the Minister of State for Labour and Haj, Tanvir Sait, and the Mayor, Dakshina Murthy, would be the chief guests. The former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mysore, D. Javare Gowda, would deliver the "Gurusmarane," on the occasion, he said. The celebrations are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., Mr. Betkerur said. As part of the function, retired employees of the JSS Mahavidyapeetha would also be felicitated in the evening. A drama, "Nijaguna Bharatha," by Radhika Nanda Kumar and troupe would also be staged on the occasion.
