NIO (Goa) enters final
HYDERABAD,
SEPT. 13.
National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), Goa, entered the final of the cricket tournament of the 37th Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar memorial sports tournaments for CSIR units being organised by the IICT here. NIO (Goa) will clash with CDRI (Lucknow) in the final.
The final, however, will be played in the second leg of the tournament, to be held at Mysore in November.
In the Hyderabad leg which concluded on Monday, 11 teams took part. Arjuna awardees and Dronacharya awardees of Andhra Pradesh including S.M. Arif, Mir Kasim Ali, and G. Mulini Reddy were guests of honour at the closing ceremony. Dr. J.S. Yadav, Director, IICT presided.
The scores (semifinals):
CBRI 137 for nine in 30 overs (Sanjay four for 24) lost to CDRI (Lucknow) 139 for four in 27 overs (Pavan 46, Satish 38).
NIO (Goa) 188 for seven in 30 overs (Harish 43, Suresh 33) bt CFRI (Dhanbad) 99 in 20 overs (Joy Das 31, Anand three for 28).
