Thrissur
By Our Staff Reporter
THRISSUR, SEPT. 13. The Opposition in the Thrissur Corporation today stepped into the well of the council and raised slogans during the council meeting to protest against the lack of streetlights in the city. The Opposition members alleged that the streetlights were not working properly in many areas for the last six months and demanded an immediate discussion on the issue.
Walkout
The Mayor, K. Radhakrishnan, initially refused the plea but later agreed to a debate when the Opposition continued to shout slogans. After discussions, he assured the councillors that the problem would be addressed. However, the Opposition staged a walkout saying that the assurance given by the Mayor was not satisfactory as he had not stated how the problem would be solved.
