KURNOOL, SEPT. 13. A rare heart surgery was performed on a pregnant woman at Vijayadurga Cardiac Centre here. Vasanthakumar, who performed the surgery on the eight-month pregnant 25-year-old woman, said the patient was suffering from mitral valve dysfunction. The surgery was performed with minimum inconvenience to the patient and fetus. Stating that surgical facilities previously available only in metropolitan cities were now introduced in Kurnool, Dr. Vasanthakumar said patent ductus artriosus device closure was also done on another patient.
