CUDDAPAH, SEPT. 13. The Chakrayapet Mandal Parishad President, vice-president, ZPTC member, several MPTC members and sarpanches boycotted the Chakrayapet Mandal Parishad general body meeting and staged a dharna before the Chakrayapet MRO office on Monday, demanding declaration of the mandal as drought-affected. The Chrakrayapet Mandal President, Venkatamma, the vice-president, K. Muralidhar Reddy, the ZPTC member, Radhakrishnaiah, the Chakrayapet sarpanch, K. Gangi Reddy and the MPTC members -- Siddha Reddy, Nagaraju and Chalapathi -- threatened to launch hunger strike on September 27 if the mandal was not declared drought-hit by then.
Promise recalled
The leaders recalled that the Minister for Agriculture, N. Raghuveera Reddy, recently toured Chakrayapet and promised its inclusion in the list of drought-hit mandals, but the declaration was yet to come.
