Electoral rolls to be revised

CHANDIGARH, SEPT.13 .A special summary revision of electoral rolls of all the 90 Assembly constituencies in Haryana will be done with reference to January 1, 2005 as the qualifying date.

A spokesman of the Haryana Election Department said here today that the draft rolls would be published on September 15. The period for filing of claims and objections and reading of relevant part or section of electoral roll in Gram Sabha or urban local bodies and resident welfare association meetings would be between September 15 and October 15. Special campaign dates for receiving claims and objections at all designated locations would be September 18 and 19 and October 9 and 10. Preparation and printing of supplements of additions, deletions and corrections would be made by December 31 and final publication of electoral rolls would take place on January 3, 2005.

He said that the prime objective of this revision was to prepare an accurate roll complete in all respects with the cooperation and involvement of electors as well as political parties. The revision would involve removal from the rolls names of the dead and shifted voters, inclusion of electors who had become eligible for the first time on January 1, 2005 or who were eligible earlier but had not been included for any reason. The rolls of each constituency or relevant part thereof, as the case might be, would be available for inspection at the offices of Deputy Commissioners, Sub-Divisional Officers (Civil), District Election Officers,

Electoral Registration Officers of all the constituencies, Revenue Tehsildars, District Public Relations Officers, Patwar Khanas, Panchayat Ghars, Municipal Committees from September 15 to October 15..
