JAIPUR, SEPT. 13 .The Rajasthan Chief Minister, Vasundhara Raje, today denied any incidence of to starvation deaths in the tribal- dominated Baran district in the State. "There has not been any starvation death in the State. The reports of starvation deaths are incorrect as there is no drought situation in Baran district this time unlike the last year,'' she said. Ms.Raje, who returned from Delhi today after the meeting of the Chief Ministers of the Bharatiya Janata Party- ruled States, said in a brief interaction with the media that she would look into the observations of the State Governor, Madan Lal Khurana, on the reported starvation deaths. Asked whether she would report to him in this regard, she quipped: "It is my duty to report to him''. Mr.Khurana in an interaction with the media last weekend had expressed concern over the reported deaths of 15 persons, mostly from the Saharia tribe, due to starvation. Unlike the starvation issue, Ms.Raje was less categorical on the issue of releasing water from the Panchana dam in Karauli district to the world- famous bird sanctuary, Keoladeo Ghana National Park in Bharatpur. A Group of Ministers(GoM) constituted on the issue of water to Ghana sanctuary from Panchana submitted its report today but Ms.Raje did not talk about the recommendations. "I don't think this matter is an overnight business,'' Ms.Raje said as a delegation of farmers from Karauli who had gathered in front of her official residence raised slogans against releasing of water to the neighbourhood sanctuary, a world heritage site.
