Global consultancy

NEW DELHI SEPT. 13. The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade organised a seminar on `Global opportunities and challenges in consultancy services' here this past weekend. The objective of the seminar was to introduce students of various business schools to consultancy service in the context of international business.

Speaking on the occasion, the IIFT Director, Prabir Sengupta, said consultancy business had really crossed boundaries and therefore requires international business management as one of the most important qualifications for young managers. The seminar was attended by senior managers of consultancy firms, corporate houses and business school students.

Helpline for bikers

NEW DELHI SEPT. 13. Cross Roads -- one of the pioneers in car helpline-- has for the first time in India launched a 24-hour bike helpline service in the Capital.

The USP of this service is that it comes for a meagre sum of Re. 1 a day. It will provide on road service and repair, necessary automotive and spare parts arrangement, free dropping, replacement of punctured tyre and emergency petrol.

Cross Roads will cater to around one lakh automobile customers in Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon and Faridabad.

NCC team for Russia

NEW DELHI SEPT. 13. A National Cadet Corps (NCC) delegation will visit Russia from September 16 to 26 on an invitation from the Youth Affairs Department of the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Federation of Russia.

The NCC cadets will interact with members of the First Cadet Corps of Rescuers of Russia and other selected dignitaries from the cities of Moscow and Kursk. During their stay in Russia, the Cadets will also give a presentation on India's culture and heritage to project a positive image of the country. The delegation comprises two officers and 10 cadets.

Human Unity Conference

NEW DELHI SEPT. 13. The 21st International Human Unity Conference was inaugurated by the President of the World Council of Religions, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj, at Kirpal Bagh on Sunday.

Addressing the gathering, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj, said: "Although we may have different religions, occupations and cultures, there is only one true reality within all of us. Genetic research carried out by scientists has shown that over 99 per cent of our genes are the same and one per cent difference in our genes has brought about so much diversity in the human race. We are all born from one source that enlivens our mind and body. Our soul is a drop of God," he added.

On the occasion, Margaret Czerny from Austria spoke about "Meditation as a tool for non-violent conflict resolution".

Effigies burnt

NEW DELHI SEPT. 13. Members of the Krantikari Manuvadi Morcha today burnt an effigy on the Union Information and Broadcasting Minister, Jaipal Reddy, and the T-Series near Red Fort, holding them responsible for the "erosion of Hindu values". The Morcha has taken strong objection to the alleged manufacturing and selling of CDs of Hindu Gods by T-Series.
