CHENNAI, SEPT. 13. The city police have denied permission to the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) general secretary, Vaiko's ``renaissance walk'', along with 2,000 volunteers, from the Halda Junction to the Island Grounds via Sardar Patel Road, Durgabhai Deshmukh Road, Greenways Road, Santhome High Road and Kamarajar Salai on September 15. The police said the decision was taken in the interest of the public, traffic and maintenance of law and order. They have requested the party to stop the march at the Kathipara Junction. From there vehicles could be used to reach the Island Grounds, where a conference is to be held. The conditions include that vehicles should not go in procession and traffic rules should be followed. No loudspeaker should be used. ``We have not caused any disturbance anywhere and we will complete the march as planned,'' Mr. Vaiko said.
