MANGALORE, SEPT. 13. The Kendra Sahitya Academy, New Delhi, in association with the Raknno Konkani daily here, will organise a two-day a seminar on "Regional diversity in Konkani fiction" from Tuesday. A wide variety of papers on the subject would be presented at the seminar by well known authors of Konkani such as Damodar Mauzo, Jayant Kaikini, K. Gokuldas Prabhu, Prakash Bhatambrekar, Edwin D'Souza, K.R. Vasantha Mony, Edward Nazareth, Vasanth Bhagawant Edwin Nelto, N. Shivadas and Mahabaleshwar Sail. All these experts were coming from Kerala, Goa and different parts of Karnataka. A panel of experts comprising Shivram Kamath, Stella D'Costa and Mick Max will participate in special discussions on relevant subjects in the first session on Tuesday, followed by Jess Fernandes, Jaimala Danait and Ramnath Gavde in the second session and Mark Valder, Prakash Parrikar and Shashikant Punaji on Wednesday. According to the organising secretary and editor of the Raknno, Eric Crasta, the subject was chosen in relation to the regional diversity that existed in Konkani fiction and literature in form of languages used for writing. Konkani was presently written in Devnagari, Kannada, Malayalam and Roman scripts, but the end result was the same everywhere. This seminar would also put things into perspective, especially towards creating a bank of works that have contributed for preparing meaningful Konkani fiction.
