UDUPI, SEPT. 13. The President of the zilla panchayat, U. Vanajakshi, said on Monday that irrigation pumpsets would be provided to the minority communities under the Ganga Kalyan scheme. Presiding over the monthly Karnataka Development Programme meeting here, Ms. Vanajakshi said that the scheme was being implemented by the Minorities Development Corporation. The beneficiaries of the Ganga Kalyan scheme, which was being implemented at Amasebail, were yet to receive power supply. She directed the officials to provide immediate electricity connection to the beneficiaries. She said that fish production in the month of August was 3,462.6 tonnes in the district. The Chief Executive Officer of the zilla panchayat, K. Sundar Naik, said that most of the correspondence of the Land Army Corporation office was in English language. The officials of the Department of Culture should visit the office and carry out an inspection there, he said. The Joint Director of the Department of Agriculture, Srikantaiah, said that the district had received 3,664 mm of rainfall during the monsoon so far. Raju Poojary, Chairman of the zilla panchayat Standing Committee on Health and Education; Shankar Poojary, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Social Justice; Shivashankar, Deputy Secretary of the zilla panchayat; and Vijaykumar Shetty, Chief Planning Officer of the zilla panchayat , were present.
