Partly cloudy

CHENNAI, SEPT. 13. The sky will be partly cloudy on Tuesday with the possibility of shower or thundershower in some areas during evening or night. On Monday, Nungambakkam recorded a maximum temperature of 34.6 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 26.6 degrees Celsius while Meenambakkam recorded 34.5 and 26 degrees Celsius respectively. Humidity at Nungambakkam was 81 per cent and at Meenambakkam 78 per cent.

Rainfall recorded at Nungambakkam was 0.5 mm while at Meenambakkam, the level was 0.6 mm.

Power cut

Power supply will be suspended on Wednesday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. in Kilpauk, Gopalapuram, Pudupet, Velachery and K.K.Nagar areas due to maintenance work.

Diabetic camp

A free diabetic awareness camp was conducted at Rakshith hospital, Valasaravakkam, recently. More than 250 people were screened and those identified as diabetics were further evaluated. Dr. P. Govinda Raju highlighted on the symptoms, investigations, treatment and complications of the disease and answered the questions raised by the participants.

NCC Obstacle Course

A newly laid NCC Obstacle Course was inaugurated on the premises of DRBCC Hindu College, Pattabiram, last week.

On the occasion 30 cadets demonstrated the methods of crossing the obstacles.

Awarded

Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of Engineering, Kalavakkam, has been awarded the ISO 9001:2000 recently by the Bureau Veritas Quality International in recognition of the college's quality of education and training services.
