HYDERABAD, SEPT.13. The twin cities have been experiencing shortage of cooking gas refills during the last one week and the problem is more acute in respect of Bharat Gas and Indane, supplied by the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. and Indian Oil Corporation respectively. Used to delivery of refills within a day or two of registering for cylinders and even anticipatory door delivery by all the oil companies, consumers are caught unawares with the sudden waiting period of four days to one week. While HPCL dealers said there was no shortage of cooking gas, a senior Chennai-based official of BPCL admitted that there was some shortfall owing to a little overall shortage in the bulk supply. The IOC General Manager (Andhra Pradesh), Koti Padmakar, said due to excess growth beyond the anticipated rate, there was a slippage in the bulk supply last month and that had resulted in backlog.
