Power shutdown

COIMBATORE, SEPT.13. Power supply will not be available between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. in the following areas on September 17, owing to a shutdown at the Saravanampatty substation.

Saravanampatty, Vilankurichi, Velandipalayam, Kalapatti, Cheranmanagar, Ammankoil, Chinnavedampatti, Ramakrishnapuram, Sivanandapuram, Akkammal Steel Company, Vellakinar, Urumandampalayam, Somayampalayam, TVS Nagar, Gounder Mill (Mettupalayam Road), Subramaniampalayam, Kanuvai, KNG Pudur, Kavundampalayam, Maniyakarampalayam, Nallampalayam, Lakshmi Nagar, Rathinapuri, Nachimuthu Nagar, Jayaprakash Nagar, Ganapathi Nagar, Kannappa Nagar and Ganesh Nagar.

Temple

works

Renovation of the Mandiragiri Velayudhaswamy Temple at Thenserimalai in Palladam will begin on September 19.

The temple has been sanctioned subsidy by the State Government for renovation, a temple release said.

Fete

Thirukooda Nanneerattu Vizha will be held at the Ayyappan Temple on Pioneer Mill Road in Peelamedu on September 16. Various programmes organised as part of the celebrations will be held from September 14, according to a release.

Programme

The Shree Coimbatore Digamber Jain Mandal will conduct Paryushan Parva from September 18 to 27.

Camp

The district administration has organised a camp for receiving petitions from the public at Ikkarai Boluvampatty on September 15.

The District Collector, S. Kosalaraman, would receive petitions. In a release, the administration has asked members of the public to make use of the camp to air their grievances.

AIDS awareness

An AIDS awareness programme for speech and hearing impaired youth was held by the Department of Community Medicine in the PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research.

A press release said about 30 persons from the State and also from Kerala and Karnataka participated.

It said the department also conducted similar programmes for industrial workers through the Confederation of Indian Industry, Coimbatore Zone.

Elected

The following persons have been elected office-bearers of the Coimbatore chapter of the Indian Homoeopathy Medical Association:

Gopal (president), G. Renu (vice-president), Suneeth Mathew (general secretary), S. Karunakaran (joint secretary) and K.N. Sivanandan (treasurer).
