Lottery centre raided

KOCHI, SEPT. 13. A lottery agency, near Paramara Road, was raided and sealed as part of a drive launched by the District Lottery Office against fake lotteries.

The agency, Singaram Lottery Agency, was raided on a complaint from the District Lottery Officer, K.M. Abdul Karim, the police said. Samples of lottery tickets were confiscated and the godown was sealed. No arrest was made. The drive will continue, the police said.

One killed

T.V. Lalan (61), owner of `A to Z Driving School' was fatally injured when an autorickshaw hit him at Thoppumpady at around 5.30 a.m. He was on his morning walk at the time of the accident. He was brought to the Ernakulam Medical Centre with serious head injuries, where he died at 10.25 a.m.

Woman drowned

Mary alias Gigi (28), wife of Sabu, Mannamuri Veedu, Cheranalloor, was found drowned near Panchayat boat jetty, Mulavukadu, at 6.30 a.m. The deceased, who had a history of mental instability and had attempted suicide once before, was missing since Sunday night.
