Salesman chased, stabbed to death

BANGALORE, SEPT. 13. A 25-year-old man was stabbed to death in Jagjivan Ram Nagar Police Station limits here on Monday.

The name of the dead was given as H.C. Kumar of Haniyur in Channapatna taluk of Bangalore Rural district. He was working as a salesman with a detergent soap distributor at Bapujinagar.

The police said that around 11 a.m. when Kumar was about to enter his goods delivery van at 16th Cross, Venkataswamy Garden, a youth accosted him and picked a quarrel with him.

As the youth brandished a knife, Kumar ran for about 200 metres and went into a house of Kempamma, a Bangalore Mahanagara Palike employee.

The youth chased Kumar, entered Kempamma's house and allegedly stabbed him in the neck, chest and abdomen. As the youth stabbed Kumar, Kempamma and her daughter-in-law, Gangamma, ran out of the house, the police said.

After hacking Kumar to death, the youth threw the knife in a drain and ran away. The motive behind the murder was not known, the police said. The Jagjivan Ram Nagar Police have registered a case.

Woman murdered

A transport company employee allegedly hanged his wife to death at his house in Mangammanapalya in Madivala Police Station limits on Sunday.

The police said that following a quarrel, Krishna allegedly hit his wife, Venkatamma (31), on the head with a club. When she fell unconscious, he hanged her with a rope from the ceiling.

The couple's three children were witness to the incident that took place around 3.30 p.m., the police said. The Madivala police have registered a case.

Killed in accident

A seven-year-old boy, Samson, was seriously injured when a lorry hit him near KIMCO Circle on Mysore Road around 3.45 p.m. on Sunday. Samson, a resident of Bangarappanagar, died at a hospital. The Byatarayanapura Traffic Police have seized the lorry and are on the lookout for the driver.

In another incident, Saravana (27) was killed when a KSRTC bus hit his scooter on Mysore Road, off Jagadale Exports, around 8.45 p.m. on Sunday. The driver ran away after the accident, the police said. The Byatarayanapura Traffic Police have registered a case.

Recovered

The Kadugondanahalli Police on Saturday arrested Sheik Javed (22) and recovered from him gold ornaments and electronic goods, together worth Rs. 1 lakh.

The police said Javed was involved in four cases of house break-in and theft in Kadugondanahalli and Devarajeevanahalli Police Station limits.

Impostors arrested

The Basaveshwaranagar police on Saturday arrested three persons on charges of extortion and recovered from them Rs. 1,150.

The police gave the names of the arrested as S.Chandrashekar (26), B.Kumar (29) and Lingaraju (28).

Posing as City Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths, the accused had taken money from Parthiban, an autorickshaw driver, in Mahalakshmi Layout on August 10, the police said.
