Temperature

MADURAI, SEPT. 13. The city today registered a maximum temperature of 36.4 degree Celsius and a minimum of 25.4 degree Celsius.

Rain

Rain lashed the city for an hour this evening, inundating many arterial roads. Water logging on Tamil Sangam Road and New Jail Road caused traffic snarls. Motorcyclists had to wade through the water.

Water level

The level in Periyar dam stood at 115.30 feet, with an inflow of 347 cusecs and a discharge of 759 cusecs. The level in Vaigai dam was 35.2 feet, with an inflow of 325 cusecs and a discharge of 30 cusecs. The combined Periyar storage was 2,319 mcft.

Periyar dam received 3 mm of rainfall.

Census details

The details of the census of people living below the poverty line conducted by the Corporation have been kept for public viewing at the Corporation Office at Anna Maligai.

The 7,000-page document of the door-to-door enumeration in all 72 wards, which began in September 2003, could be viewed on all working days, a statement said.

Grievance day

The Mayor, C. Ramachandran, and the Commissioner (in charge), C. Rajamani, will conduct a grievance day meeting for the residents of the east zone at the corporation building tomorrow.
