Sampark Kranti Express to run from Sept. 19

MADURAI, SEPT. 13. The Madurai-Hazrat Nizamuddin Tamil Nadu Sampark Kranti (bi-weekly) Express will be flagged off by the Railway Minister, Lalu Prasad, here on September 19.

The train will leave Madurai on all Mondays/Saturdays, and leave Hazrat Nizamuddin on all Tuesdays/Thursdays. It will halt at Dindigul, Tiruchi, Ariyalur, Villuppuram, Tambaram, Chennai Egmore and Chennai Beach.

Railway sources said Mr. Prasad would reach Madurai by a special train at around 6 a.m. on September 19. After flagging off the express, he would proceed to Manamadurai by road to inspect the gauge conversion work. He will board a special train at Manamadurai to Rameswaram and inspect the Pamban bridge across the sea.

The Minister will return to Madurai for a night halt and proceed to Rajapalayam in the morning to inaugurate the Rajapalayam-Tenkasi broad-gauge line. He will flag off the Tenkasi-Chennai Egmore (weekly) Superfast Express. Later, he is expected to go to Kanyakumari in a special train.
