KOCHI, SEPT. 14. The Indian Farmers Movement (Infam) has said that the State Government should give financial support to the rubber farmers for exporting rubber. The demand was made by a meeting of the rubber farmers organised by Infam at Kochi while protesting against the Central Government's decision to slash the financial support given for rubber export. The meeting pointed out that the slashing of assistance for rubber exports even as the Government was declaring big concessions for encouraging exports even by causing monetary loss to the Government was tantamount to damaging the interests of the farmers. Doing away with the port regulations over the export of rubber would result in making any checks or examinations regarding quality and chances of infections almost impossible, it was pointed out.
