Coimbatore
Losing its share
But this city is deprived of its legitimate share in new investments by new players as no aggressive plans are initiated to attract these players. A. Vinod Kumar, Coimbatore.
Tips from Israel
When I had been to Israel, I found that all waste water from Tel Aviv was brought to the desert 100 km away from the city and filtered in giant wells. The purified water is then used for agricultural purposes. Several hundreds of hectares in the desert receive only this water (no rain). Sand is a powerful medium of filtration. Dr. L.D. Vijendra Das, Coimbatore.
Shifting of P.O.
I would like to mention that the Post Office was temporarily shifted to Peelamedu Post Office due to certain difficulties. In order to avoid inconvenience to the customers, the Department of Posts has called for tenders for securing a suitable building in that area. The matter is being promptly looked into. P.P. Arumugam, Senior Superintendent, Coimbatore Division, Coimbatore.
Neglected section
Moreover, not only Coimbatoreans have been affected but also the people on the entire route from Coimbatore to Chennai. Let the people's representatives rise to the occasion and see to it that a new express is introduced to serve this neglected section. Dominic David, Coimbatore.
Conservative system
Two friends of mine from abroad had to break their journey in Coimbatore on 11-07-2004, travelling from Kochi to Bangalore (Reservation Ticket No. 86751347 - Train No. 6525 - 2 Tier A/c). Station authorities here did not refund the fare for Coimbatore to Bangalore. Instead, they issued a Ticket Deposit Receipt No. 432052 asking them to claim the refund from Railway Divisional Office, Palakkad. As they could not wait, the receipt was handed over to me and I sent the same to the Office at Palakkad on 12-07-2004, receipt of which was acknowledged on 15-07-2004. Now, almost two months have passed and I am yet to get the refund. K.P. Padmanabhan, Coimbatore.
Dream fulfilled
At the same time, to safeguard the interests of passengers from Tamil Nadu, the timings of train no. 6667-6668 were rescheduled. Three cheers to officials of Southern Railway Palakkad Division who finally struck a balance. My request to others is to give up attempts to hold demonstrations and rail rokos in this regard. Benjamin, Coimbatore.
No timetable
This year, surprisingly the timings of many popular trains have been changed in September instead of October and unfortunately not even a single copy of timetable is available in Coimbatore Junction, North Coimbatore, Podanur or even at Palghat. The staff at all counters is unable to respond properly to the queries. The Public Relations Officer at Chennai and Palghat should ensure that sufficient copies of timetable are made available. C.M. Jeyaraam, Citizens' Voice Club, Coimbatore.
Coimbatore.
