TUMKUR, SEPT. 14. The police arrested a man on Tuesday on the charge of murdering M. Chikkannaiappa, retired chief engineer, and his wife, Lalitha, here on Monday. The Superintendent of Police, P. Muniswamy, said Nagaraja (19) was arrested at Seebi Agrahara near here. During interrogation, Nagaraja, a former servant at the couple's house, confessed that he had murdered them on Monday afternoon. Nagaraja said that the couple dismissed him from the job as he used to steal money from their house. He came to their house on Monday to steal money. However, Lalitha saw him entering the prayer room. He wanted to escape but was caught by Chikkannaiappa. Nagaraja said he thought that the couple would send him away after giving him a piece of advice. But Chikkannaiappa thrashed him and threatened to hand him over to the police. Enraged by this, he murdered the couple, Nagaraja added.
