BANGALORE, SEPT. 14. The demand by Kannada-speaking Catholics for the larger use of their language in worship was reiterated on Tuesday by the Karnataka Cathlolica Christhara Kannada Sangha. The Sangha president, J.R. Pereira, and the general secretary, Raphael Raj, told presspersons that they had expressed their disappointment to the Church authorities over the installation of yet another non-Kannada speaking person as Archbishop of Bangalore. "As law-abiding Catholics, we do respect the appointment made by the Pope," Mr. Periera said. "The representatives of the Kannada clergy and laity have met the new Archbishop and presented our grievances, including the lack of enough encouragement for Kannada to be used in worship in churches," Mr. Raj said. The Sangha had also written to the Vatican's representative in India (Apostolic Nuncio), Archbishop Pedro Lopez Quintana.
