Dharam Singh promises Tungabhadra water release
HYDERABAD,
SEPT. 14.
The Karnataka Chief Minister, Dharam Singh, today gave an assurance that the Tungabhadra water would be released to Andhra Pradesh, and said his counterpart here, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, need not worry about the issue.
Responding to warm felicitations, Mr. Singh said that as long as he was the Chief Minister and the Congress led the coalition in Karnataka, "justice will be done as after all, we are both Congress Chief Ministers." In fact before coming to Hyderabad, he made it a point to hold two meetings on Monday and today on the issue. It was decided that maintenance works costing Rs. 30 crores would be taken up on the Tungabhadra canals to ensure proper flow of water.
