HYDERABAD, SEPT. 14. "I want to see this beautiful world," thus spake Ch. Bhargava, a class VII student of the Devnar School for the Blind when cine actor Chiranjeevi called the visually challenged boy on to the stage and told him to describe what he would like to do if he had eyes. The boy appealed to the audience at the National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped to help him undergo cornea transplantation. The Governor, S.S. Barnala, recalled meeting an 11-year-old blind girl who underwent operation at a camp, when he was the Tamil Nadu Governor in 1990. "When the bandage was removed she cried, `I can see light.' She grabbed me out of happiness. I was moved," the Governor said. The Governor offered his eyes saying "I am willing to donate my eyes. I don't know if they can be useful as I am running 80 years" Chiranjeevi, who heads an eye bank in his name, revealed what made him establish it. "I was moved after seeing a short film while studying at the film institute in Chennai," he said. 53 eye donation pledges at the meeting.
