By Our Special Correspondent GULBARGA, SEPT. 14. The winner of the National Best Teacher Award, Devendrappa Badiger, was felicitated at a function organised by the Basaveshwar Prasada Nilaya. The nilaya is providing free boarding and lodging facilities to meritorious students coming from poor families in the region. Along with Mr. Badiger, senior teachers, including the Director of MR Medical College and Basaveshwar Teaching and General Hospital, P.S. Shankar, the (retired) principal, Vasant Kustagi, Yogesh and Chennareddy Patil, were honoured at the function to commemorate Teachers Day. A students union was also inaugurated. The Chairman of the nilaya, B.H. Purantagi, spoke. M.B. Ambalagi welcomed the gathering.
