Martyrs' Day observed

By Our Staff Reporter

JAMMU, SEPT. 14. The Kashmiri Pandit community today took out rallies in various parts of the State on the occasion of `Martyrs Day.' The day commemorates the mass exodus by the community from the Kashmir Valley 15 years ago.

Hundreds of Pandits staged demonstrations in various parts of the State. They accused the successive State and Central governments of ignoring the plight of the community.

Pandit leaders demanded that the community be involved in any process concerning Jammu and Kashmir. They said that there should not be any compromise with the forces of Islamic fundamentalism.

The community wanted the authorities to ensure that promises of arranging for their return to the Valley don't remain empty slogans.
