KOLLAM, SEPT. 14. A meeting of the Kollam District Panchayat committee held today called upon the State Government to revoke the recent notification asking the local bodies to remit the fund allocations that remain unutilised after September 30 in the treasury. The meeting presided over by the district panchayat president, Aisha Potti, was of the opinion that such a notification would only serve to stump all development projects. If the notification is not revoked the district panchayat would be losing Rs. 6 crores. Hence the deadline for the utilisation of the allocation should be extended. The green signal from the Planning Board for a building to accommodate the office of the Deputy Director of Education and permanent pavilions at the venue of the Kannetti and Kallada boat races are yet to be given, the meeting said.
