CHENNAI, SEPT. 14. The Railway Minister, Lalu Prasad, will be on a three-day tour of Tamil Nadu from September 18. He will inaugurate two new railway projects and flag off two new trains. Mr. Prasad, who is visiting the State for the first time after taking charge as the Railway Minister, will on Saturday declare open passenger amenities at Chennai Central, including a water fountain, and dedicate to the nation the fourth line between Pattabiram and Tiruvallur. At Walajah Road, he will lay the foundation stone for station improvement works and inaugurate a computerised, unreserved ticket booking system. On September 19, the Minister will visit Madurai to flag off the Tamil Nadu Sampark Kranti Express running between the city and Nizamuddin (Delhi). Though it was announced in the railway budget that the service would be a biweekly train, it will be a weekly service to start with. The next day, the Minister will go to Rajapalayam to declare open the newly-converted Rajapalayam-Tenkasi broad gauge line. He will flag off the Tenkasi-Chennai special from Rajapalayam.
