COIMBATORE, SEPT. 14. The stage is set here for the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's Mupperum Vizha tomorrow. The auditorium at the Coimbatore Institute of Technology, venue, has been brought under tight security following the hurling of molotov cocktails at the party office here on Sunday. The DMK president, M. Karunanidhi, will participate in the event and address a public meeting in the evening on the VOC Park Grounds. A tight security cover is in place there also. Both venues were abuzz with senior office-bearers, including the deputy general secretary, M.K. Stalin, supervising the arrangements. A carnival atmosphere prevailed at the party office and the venues. This is the second major meet of the party in this region after the Salem conference held on August 21 and 22. Five Union Ministers are scheduled to attend the meetings: T.R. Baalu, Dayanidhi Maran, A. Raja, K. Raghupathy and S.S. Palanimanickam. At the Mupperum Vizha, Mr. Karunanidhi will distribute prizes instituted by the DMK Trust to students who secured high marks in Plus-Two examinations and cash prizes and certificates to college and school students who won competitions in recital of Bharathidasan's poems conducted by the trust.
To visit Kotagiri
Mr. Karunanidhi after attending the Coimbatore meeting was likely to arrive at Kotagiri on Wednesday night. He is expected to stay there for a few days.
